Julian Emery
TRACK, PRODUCTION.
Julian is a brilliant song-writer (mainly track) and record producer specializing in pop and rock. He co-wrote and co-produced ‘Motion in the Ocean’, the #1 album by McFly which spawned three UK #1 singles including the ever popular ‘Starlgirl'. He also wrote and produced ‘Don’t Let it go to Waste’, the debut album by Matt Willis which featured the magnificent "Hey Kid".
Along with regular writing partner Jim Irvin, he wrote seven songs on the debut album by Nothing But Thieves (which he also produced) including the singles “Trip Switch" (#1 on the Alternative chart in USA Feb 2016); “Graveyard Whistling” and "Ban All The Music". The band’s second album came out in early September 2017 and entered the UK chart at #2. The set contained 6 songs written by Julian including the A listed single “Sorry”, title track “Broken Machine’, “I Am Not Made By Design” and the album opener as well. The band closed 2018 with a headline show at Alexandra Palace. The band’s third album, Moral Panic, entered the UK chart at #3 in October 2020 and features five songs written by Julian including the singles “Impossible’ (voted Record of the Year on Radio X) and “Real Love Song” (voted #2 Record of the Year on Radio X). The band have just announced a show at London’s O2 Arena for late 2021.
He has written songs on all four Lissie albums including the much loved “When I’m Alone”. He has a couple of songs on the last Simple Plan record including the single “Astronaut”. He also had cuts with Lower Than Atlantis, Gavin Degraw, Michelle Branch, Halestorm, Gabrielle Aplin.
He has recently been working with Anne Marie, The Amazons (Doubt It, A list Radio 1), BLOXX (Go Out With You and 5000 Miles), One OK Rock, Airways, Chelcee Grimes, You Me At Six (Suckapunch) , Broken Hands, Sea Girls, Miles Kane, Justin Young (from the Vaccines), Callum Beattie, Sam Ryder and Gabe Coulter amongst many others.
